Wessex Forge offers a wide range of Handmade Traditional English Wrought Ironwork for the Garden and Home direct to customers from its Forge in the Cathedral City of Wells Somerset, England.

The product range has been developed over the years to appeal to serious gardeners who are looking for high quality and robustly made products.

The products reflect the style of the Traditional English Garden.

We use only the finest materials and our garden ironwork is made to last. 

For example our garden arches, gazebos and obelisks are constructed from solid rod and not from cheaper tube which can easily rust away. Our Park Bench Seats are handmade from heavy gauge iron and will last a lifetime.

We provide the opportunity for serious gardeners in particular and other discriminating purchasers to obtain handmade wrought iron products for the garden such as arches, gazebos, obelisks and park bench seats.

An extensive range of colours and surface finishes is available including Green, Black, White, Hand Painted Verdigris, Natural Rusted, Etch Galvanised and Unpainted Galvanised. We can often provide special colours when requested. Please ask us if you have something in mind.

In fact mentioning special colours leads to the subject of our "made to measure service". As we make most of what we sell we can often make one of our products to a special size. This is our "made to measure service." Please ask us but do remember that a "made to measure" item will often cost a little more.

Of course many of our garden gates are made to measure.

As well as our range of robust handmade wrought iron products we also offer a number of interesting items for the garden which will attract the attention of the serious gardener. These include Waterways. Waterways is a small funnel like device which is an aid to watering Hanging Baskets. Use a Waterways whenever you plant out a Hanging Basket and you can be sure to be able to effectively water the hanging basket however hot the weather. The Waterways direct the water to the roots of the plants in the Hanging Basket. For more details click on the reference to Waterways on the left hand side of this page.

Another item with a difference is the 12"/30cm diameter Deep Hanging Basket which we unashamedly call "The best Hanging Basket in the World". Our "Deep" hanging basket features an attractive traditional round shape but it also has a flat bottom. This makes it very stable when planting out and much easier to control when taken down for watering.

The other important feature of the Deep hanging basket is its extra depth. It holds much more compost than the normal 12" diameter Hanging Basket and therefore is much less likely to dry out however hot the weather might be. As well as Handmade Traditional English Ironwork for the Garden we also make items for the home including a comprehensive range of Candleholders. Our range of Candleholders include floor standing designs as well as those intended for the floor or wall.

2. Your order will be processed as soon as we receive payment. An
acknowledgement will be sent by email for those using the online shop and by
post for orders placed direct where we do not have an email address. You
can cancel the order up to any time before it is despatched  for a full refund.
This does not include "specials" or "made to measure" products. Contact
us by phone or email. After despatch our returns policy - see para 4 -applies.

3. Delivery. Most standard items shown on the website are delivered within 10 days or so within mainland the UK.  Many are delivered quicker than this. If there is
a particularly urgent need  we can normally help. Please contact us when
ordering.
Specials ie individual items made to measure may take 3 weeks.
A  signature is required on delivery.
If your house is difficult to find or identify please supply detailed directions.
Any damaged or missing package  must be noted on the carrier’s advice when
receiving goods. They must also be reported to us by phone or email within 24
hours.
There is a delivery charge based on the value of the order. Details of the delivery charge are shown at the bottom of this page and on each product page on the website.
 

 4. Returns. If you are not satisfied with the goods you have purchased you can return them for a refund within 7 days of their receipt. They are to be returned at your expense though we can arrange for a carrier to provide this service. They must be received by us in as new condition and unused and in the original packaging.  This is especially important as a number of our products have to be packed very carefully to avoid damage. We will have to make a charge if the goods are returned damaged to cover any reclamation work or the cost of their replacement. If you anticipate problems please contact us. The  refund will exclude the original cost of sending the goods to you. To return goods please contact us by phone or email.
Please note that made to measure or specials cannot be returned for a refund.

5. Specifications. Most of our products are hand made and therefore dimensions will vary a little. If a dimension is particularly critical please ring and check this with us. Colour representation on our website and brochures is approximate  due to the limitations of the photographic process.

6. All prices shown on the web site include VAT. Residents of the Channel
Islands and of all countries out side the European Union can purchase  our
products free of VAT -  Value Added Tax – which is a form of sales tax . This
means they receive a discount of 13% on all prices quoted on the web site.

7. Jurisdiction. The courts of England have exclusive jurisdiction over all claims and disputes arising in relation to, out of, or in connection with this website and its use and these terms and conditions.
